Lady Gaga’s Stylish Headphones

There was a time in my life when I spent hours on iTunes (or other free music sharing sites) downloading massive amounts of music. I remember being back in my dorm room at Chico State, sifting through song after song until the wee hours of the morning; apparently having a stacked play list was more important than homework. Today, I find myself with little time for acquiring that much music but I still bop around town listening to the likes of Arcade Fire, Britney Spears, Broken Bells, and Justin Timberlake (When is he going to make another album? Damn his acting career.).

Back in the day we’d all burn CD’s and crank it up in the car but these days, our portable music devices have gotten fancy; the iPod obviously being the top dog. Everywhere you look people are walking around with headphones in their ears, cranking up their favorite artists. For all the perfectionist fashionistas out there, the standard white headphones that come with purchase aren’t exactly what we’d consider hip, especially since a lot of us are wearing every time we leave the house. Tattoos as Fashion Accessories?

Tattoos as Fashion Accessories?

Ever since Kelly Osborne announced that she regretted all of her tattoos and would be pursuing laser removal, I got to thinking about tattoos in fashion. As someone who has a total of seven tattoos (and counting!), I was a little insulted that she would make it such a big deal as to announce it in the press, etc (I mean you do know that you are Ozzy Osborne’s daughter right?!). In my experience, I completely understand that tattoos are not for everyone, but one should never degrade those who do have them, because for most of us they are our personal little fashion statements! They generally are something of meaning for those of us who have them, and I love the way they look with my outfits! So in the spirit of things, I thought we would check out some cool girls in Hollywood that have them, and the meaning behind it all!

Megan Fox has nine tattoos in all, with the pictured one saying, ‘We will all laugh at gilded butterflies’. This Shakespeare quote is really beautiful and must have contain some sort of other meaning for her. So pretty! We then have Evan Rachel Wood, who actually has quite a few but I couldn’t stumble upon an exact number, and her script of choice. ‘All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream’. This quote from a Beatles song is positioned very nicely on her back below her neck and I think describes her personality rather well. Read more

Grammy Award’s Best and Worst Dressed

Grammy Award’s Best and Worst Dressed

If we could possibly all stop talking about Lady Gaga arriving to the 2011 Grammy awards in an egg than maybe we could take a moment to reflect on this year’s fashion. All in all, many ladies showed real fashion prowess, with the occasional outfit constructed purely for shock value. Even the usually over the top Katy Perry showed up in a lovely white gown, however she is neither on the best or worst dressed list this time around. So take a look at those who got it right this year and those who, well, just didn’t. Read more

Grammy Award’s Trend! Huge, Breathtaking Earrings!

Grammy Award’s Trend! Huge, Breathtaking Earrings!

The Grammy’s, like any popular award show, is full of glitz, glam and trend making at it’s finest. TV shows, news outlets and blogs across the country scrutinize and pick apart every last fashionable detail, right down to painted fingertips. However, for the purpose of this post, whether you loved Jennifer Lopez’s metallic Pucci mini dress is really neither here nor there; I’m here to talk to you about the massive earring trend we saw grace the red carpet.

It seemed that no matter what angle the photographer shot at, there were huge, breathtaking earrings in the frame. We’re not talking costume jewelry here, folks…this is the real deal. Keri Hilson wore the most beautiful gold, yellow diamond drop earrings I’d ever seen in my life. I’m a yellow diamond fanatic (and in fact, want yellow diamonds when I hear wedding bells); you had to practically wipe the drool off my lip after I took a gander at those. Read more

Monica’s Top Fashion Trends of 2010

Monica’s Top Fashion Trends of 2010

So, 2010 had plenty to talk about fashion wise. Lady Gaga’s meat dress (or her five different costume changes at the VMA’s alone), Lauren Conrad had brown hair for a hot minute, and Katy Perry taught us a little something about California girls. Designer wise, florals were back in a big way in this past spring for 2010, and we saw a revival in mini dresses. Fall was more all about deep colors and structured lines and prints. The military look was arguably the most popular look for fall, with all sorts of variations in between. However, a few certain trends stick out in my mind that I will personally, continue to sport well into 2011 and maybe even beyond. Read more

Celebrity Halloween Costumes: Lady Gaga, Kim, Brit, Snooki!

Celebrity Halloween Costumes

In previous years, I wasn’t a huge fan of Halloween.  I hated the pressure of looking for and spending money on a ridiculous costume that I was only going to wear once. My friends would always tell me, “It’s your one time of year to be somebody or something else!” I would always answer with, “What’s wrong with being me 365 days a year? I like me and I certainly wouldn’t want to trade being me, even for one night, to be some slutty nurse with my bum hanging out of my dress. ” They frowned at this. Read more

Lady Gaga Gray Hair Trend? Will You Try It?

Lady Gaga Gray Hair Trend? Will You Try It?

I have been extremely excited to try out most of the fall season’s latest trends, but there remains one that I am certain I will not be jumping on the bandwagon for: gray hair. Hmm, this gives a whole new meaning to premature aging, don’t you think? I can admit that it can look cool and I like it on others, but I don’t think that I have the guts to personally pull this look off.

For years and years, men and women have dedicated their time and their money on trying to hide any signs of gray hair, but what was out is now in! I believe that this trend was born last year on the runways of Gareth Pugh and Giles Deacon, where models with full heads of gray paraded down the runways. And then in January, models wore streaks of gray in their hair at the Chanel couture show and gray-headed beauties were again seen at the Proenza Schouler spring 2010 shows. This daring trend has caught the attention of many and has indeed been embraced by a few risk-taking celebrities. On the August cover of Vanity Fair, Lady Gaga, a trend-setter of all kinds, showed off some lovely, long locks of pastel gray. Now if Lady Gaga is doing it, I think it’s safe to say it’s a trend! Model Kate Moss celebrated her new Longchamp line in Paris sporting subtle gray highlights. A few other celebrities such as Kelis, Kelly Osbourne, and fashion blogger Tavi  Gevinson have all been seen wearing this trend.

I think that this trend will be more widely embraced by a younger population, who do not actually have to worry about growing gray hair. It is definitely a statement maker and will require a lot of confidence to make it. Will this look go mainstream and be the end of one of fashion’s biggest donts? Only time will tell, but for now I am keeping my golden locks!
