Winter Hairstyles and Hair Trends for 2011

If you’re anything like me, you have total hair A.D.D. I don’t know what it is, but about every few months I find myself completely bored with my current hair style, cut, or color. Lucky for me, the changing seasons serve as a perfect excuse for me to alter up my hair a bit. For winter 2011, I’m so excited because this season is all about undone and naturally messy hair. This season’s styles will allow for easy styling in achieving that perfectly un-put together look, while always remaining chic.

The Hair Evolution of Rihanna

The Hair Evolution of Rihanna

A lot of girls panic at the thought of changing their hairstyle. It seems so permanent, and so we just put it off. We can often get caught in a hair rut without a little variation, though.

Rihanna is the queen of hair changes.  She just debuted a long, red look this week—another change for this singing star.  I love that she can take bold risks with her locks. Whether it’s playing with asymmetry, dying it a bold color, adding extensions of even buzzing half her head, she is always updating her style and her hair!  I think we can all learn a little bit from Rihanna’s awesome hair looks, and there are a few of her styles that I loved best. To Buzz or Not to Buzz?

To Buzz or Not to Buzz?

Whenever you see a celebrity shave their head you typically think one of two things: film project or crazy. Natalie Portman and Demi Moore shaved their heads for work and Britney Spears; I think we all know what happened there. My point is, most people don’t go around lopping off hair that short without something else happening behind the scenes. Read more

Fall 2010 Hair Style Trends

As fashion trends come and go with the seasons, so does hair styles. Although people tend to find one style and stick with it for many years, the fashionista, will explore the pages of Hair Style Magazine and change her look with the seasons. This fall 2010, you’ll find a diverse range of styles as you browse through the style magazines and websites. The 30’s, 50’s 60’s and 70’s are the main decades that are bringing inspiration to the stars and their stylists. Here are four looks that will keep you up-to-date on your look.

The Bob with Bangs: http://blogs.smarter.com/beauty/2007/12/04/katie-holmes-new-bob-with-bangs/

A bang on the bob makes this classic style modern and a low maintenance trend. The longer the bob, the easier it is to take care of. Katie Holmes has this look down, who would think this sexy temptress is a mom with this due. For this style, blow dry and flatiron using a thermal protection product. This will keep the “flyaways” away. However, for fall, try not to think only in the sleek, create soft texture for added flare.

Shag/Long Layer: http://www.sofeminine.co.uk/star/pictures-331838-meg-ryan.html

The 70’s shag is back! This unequivocally sexy razor cut style was reintroduced by Meg Ryan in “French Kiss” and continues to turn heads today.  This cut is especially hot for the fashionista that loves the textured look. Stars are wearing this look with or without bangs, so think of you face shape before getting this style. When styling, a quick blow-dry with your favorite texturing hair product will give you the sexy, wind blow look!

Natalie Portman has the right idea when it comes to her 2010 fall Pixie with bangs. An extremely low maintenance style, the pixie is a bold, sexy look that the brave few can flaunt. Halle Berry and Rihanna are also stars that look amazing in this due. This cut is also versatile for day and evening looks. Smooth and sleek for your day look and punk it up for a night on the town. Just like the shag, a quick blow dry with your favorite texture producing product will recreate this look in minutes.

Retro Curls & Waves: http://beautyeditor.ca/2010/05/13/kate-hudson-is-the-new-face-of-almay/

For the longer styles, again texture and attitude are a part of the trend. Kate Hudson with her soft waves is inspired by the 1930’s Hollywood glamour. This versatile due will give you a plethora of options when styling every day. Hairstyle trends for fall 2010 are the flat-ironed Chignon, the classic bun, the pompadour, and the ponytail. Dependent on the style for the day, will decide yourtechnique on how to style. Be sure to incorporate your favorite thermal protection for the flatiron styles and your texturing product for the waves. For these soft waves, look in the “How to” section of stylecheckup.com magazine under hair styles (http://stylecheckup.com/hair-style-romantic-taylor-swift-waves).

Whatever style you choose for fall 2010, be sure to stick to your personality and your face shape. There are different websites (some at a small fee) that you can up-load a picture and “try on” the different styles before heading to the salon. Remember that textures and bangs seem to be the common thread with the fall 2010 hair style trends.
