Holiday Accessories 2010

Holiday Accessories 2010

The holidays are a perfect time for self expression, especially when it comes to jewelry and accessories. It’s the one time of year where gaudy is universally reveled in and over-the-top is condoned. Anything with gold, glitter, sparkle, shine, sheen, confetti, metallic and bronze is a-okay; in fact, the more the merrier. Pile, slather, stick, slip, and throw on as much as you want. If anyone asks why you’re looking so festive, all you have to say is, “Why it’s [fill in the blank with holiday of choice], of course!”

With that being said, it’s not an excuse to step out every December morning looking like Mr. T had his way with you. In a perfect world, everyone would pile it on…tastefully. This season we’re seeing a ton of gold make its way in to department stores and boutiques, leaving yours truly giddy with joy at the prospect of being decked out in more bling. Read more

Hair Trend 2010 Modern Pixie

Hair Trend 2010 Modern Pixie

Seemingly everywhere I turn, another member of Hollywood’s elite is chopping her locks daringly short.  The latest star to rock a pixie-cut? Ashlee Simpson-Wentz.  Earlier this week, she stepped out at the Decades Denim event in L.A. with her new ‘do.  Channeling the iconic look of Edie Sedgewick with smudged eyeliner and wispy bangs, Ashlee now seems every bit the mod Hollywood princess.  And she isn’t the only one to take this look for a spin.  Tons of actresses are going against the grain of long blonde locks and instead sporting perfect pixies. Spring Fashion 2011 Trend: High Skirt Slits

It’s hard to believe that we’re already talking about spring fashion seeing as how we all just started to adjust to frosty toes and sky rocketing heat bills. We have at least 4 more months of freezing temperatures to endure before we can entertain the idea of slipping in to something slinky and teeny. Yet, our favorite designers are way ahead of us, thinking ahead to sunnier months, inspiring our future wardrobes. Read more

Defining Your Holiday Style

If your family is anything like mine, than the holidays are kind of a big deal. With relatives coming in from all over, maybe even for the only time that year, houses being decorated, just general festivities going on, it is important and fun to match your look appropriately. Fun is definitely the key word here, these upcoming months are some of the only times during the year where we can get fancy without it having to be for a particular occasion. The question is, with all this amazing food around (if you’re like me, you DO NOT skimp on Thanksgiving), how do we achieve the comfortable but lovely holiday look? The answer is; expanding waistbands! Read more

5 Favorite Heels 2010

It’s hard to admit that I can’t wear heels, especially since fashion is such a huge part of my life. It can be very limiting and exceptionally frustrating. That doesn’t stop me from drooling over all the gorgeous stilettos I see day-in and day-out. I admire them online, as I’m walking to work, when I go out at night and when I shop. If anything, I appreciate them even more than the average girl; I can’t have them so I lust and stare, scrutinize and wish.

If I were able to pick out and wear any shoes on the planet, these 5 pairs of shoes would be the first in line to my closet: Read more

How NOT To Wear Your Vintage Clothes

How NOT To Wear Your Vintage Clothes

We’ve all seen it at one time or another…someone taking retro/vintage style way too far. Whether it is that super individualistic girl in your class who prides herself on being ‘different’, or the quirky boutique owner who tries to wear her entire store at once, too much vintage can be quite the eye sore. Personally, I am one of the biggest fans of vintage that you can come across, my entire closet is full of old school finds that I am really pretty proud of, but I know when to stop! Case in point; 80’s style dresses can be quite cute, but not this one! Believe it or not, I have seen girls walking around the Mission in unfortunate garments quite similar to this. Another example; Cosby style sweaters. As long as you are wearing them with a semi cute pattern over leggings, jeans or skirts, you’re golden. However, when they come Christmas themed and you are not posing for a funny Christmas card with your roommates, please produce a blackout stripe over your own eyes! Lastly, the mumu. Don’t get me wrong, I love oversize, and am even a big fan of menswear, but this was just never right. Something about this that just reminds me of your slightly creepy aunt who never left her chair when you were a kid. Yet, do not fret, and read on to learn more about how to wear vintage without looking like you are trying way too hard.

Add Some Fashion Edge with These Quick Style Tips

Lately, I have been undergoing a style transformation.

In the past, you could describe my style as pretty much 100% girlie.  I loved blush pink hues, pearl-beaded headbands, pretty floral skirts and glam accents.  Sophisticated was definitely the word you would use to describe my look.  And I still love elegant ensembles.  That will never change.
