Academy Awards 2011: Best and Worst Dressed

Hmmm, is it just me or is scoping out what the A-listers will wear this year the only reason to watch any award show? Personally, it doesn’t get much better than sitting on the couch with a huge bowl of buttery popcorn and lusting over all the gorgeous gowns and talking about the ones who looked like they would have been better of staying at home. So, let’s dish about the celebs who rocked the 2011 Academy Awards red carpet, and of course those that had us questioning their stylist’s sanity.

We will start off with the best dressed, where Mila Kunis found the number one spot for my favorites. She radiated beauty in a Elie Saab Haute Couture gown, which was soft and feminine and extremely flattering. I loved the pretty lavender color, the sheerness of the dress, and the balance between sexy and sweet – everything was working for me! Right after Mila, I thought that Natalie Portman also deserves to be mentioned. Her berry colored dress looked so pretty on her skin tone and the cut of the dress was ultra-flattering on the mother-to-be. I had to just give her props on looking so beautiful. Another deserving up and coming star is Halle Steinfeld, who exuded so much confidence and cute-ness in a mature, yet age-appropriate gown. Two others that captured my eye were Halle Berry, who wowed me in a champagne tulle Marchesa gown, which fit her rocking body like a glove. And Gwyneth Paltrow, who dazzled and shined in a Calvin Klein dress – she looked  undeniably sleek and chic! Read more

Grammy Award’s Best and Worst Dressed

Grammy Award’s Best and Worst Dressed

If we could possibly all stop talking about Lady Gaga arriving to the 2011 Grammy awards in an egg than maybe we could take a moment to reflect on this year’s fashion. All in all, many ladies showed real fashion prowess, with the occasional outfit constructed purely for shock value. Even the usually over the top Katy Perry showed up in a lovely white gown, however she is neither on the best or worst dressed list this time around. So take a look at those who got it right this year and those who, well, just didn’t. Read more

Grammy Award’s Trend! Huge, Breathtaking Earrings!

Grammy Award’s Trend! Huge, Breathtaking Earrings!

The Grammy’s, like any popular award show, is full of glitz, glam and trend making at it’s finest. TV shows, news outlets and blogs across the country scrutinize and pick apart every last fashionable detail, right down to painted fingertips. However, for the purpose of this post, whether you loved Jennifer Lopez’s metallic Pucci mini dress is really neither here nor there; I’m here to talk to you about the massive earring trend we saw grace the red carpet.

It seemed that no matter what angle the photographer shot at, there were huge, breathtaking earrings in the frame. We’re not talking costume jewelry here, folks…this is the real deal. Keri Hilson wore the most beautiful gold, yellow diamond drop earrings I’d ever seen in my life. I’m a yellow diamond fanatic (and in fact, want yellow diamonds when I hear wedding bells); you had to practically wipe the drool off my lip after I took a gander at those. Read more

Best and Worst Fashion on the SAG 2011 Red Carpet

Best and Worst Fashion on the SAG 2011 Red Carpet

The sun made a fashionably late appearance on the red carpet at this year’s Screen Actors Guild awards, brightening the early morning gloom and allowing celebs to work their red carpet attire worry free. The SAG awards is my favorite red carpet show to watch because the dress code is always slightly more relaxed then say, the Academy Awards, so we get to see a little more personality showing through in what celebs decide to wear. Although there were quite a few fashionable hits and daring misses this year, after intensely watching the red carpet show and eyeing the up close shots on the wonderful internet, I was able to narrow what, in my opinion, were the three best and three worst looks of the night.

Golden Globes 2011 – My Favorite Fashion Looks

Golden Globes 2011 – My Favorite Fashion Looks

Okay, I’ll confess a little secret – I really only watch any and all award shows to see who is wearing what and how good it looks. It was no different this past Sunday evening as I sat on the edge of my couch, wrapped in a blanket and a pint of ice cream in my hands, and I ooh’ed and aww’ed over the gorgeous gowns at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards. There is something so romantic and magical about a beautiful evening gown, not to mention the uncanny ability it has to transform a woman. There were so many amazing gowns at the event that the task of picking my top favorite looks of the evening was much harder than I thought it would be, but after much lusting I have put together this list of my favorite dresses (Anne Hathaway, Mila Kunis, Natalie Portman, Lea Michelle, and January Jones) from the 2011 Golden Globes (definitely not in any particular order)!
