We Love Vera Wang!

Vera Wang has become one of pop culture’s most iconic fashion designers thanks to the girls of Sex and The City.  While she is notorious for her extravagant bridal gowns, she has also dressed many a figure skater for competition (including Nancy Kerrigan and Michelle Kwan).  In the past decade, she expanded her brand to include jewelry, eyewear, and fragrances, and she has recently created a more affordable bridal line for David’s Bridal, and a lower priced fashion line that can be found exclusively at Kohl’s. Best Dressed at the 2011 AMAs

The 2011 American Music Awards: The Best Dressed!

The 2011 American Music Awards were packed with unexpected cameos from ABC’s most popular TV shows, energetic performances by today’s hottest rock stars, and extravagant red-carpet masterpieces fashion favorites.  Although most people think of the AMAs as one of the more laid back award shows, I was excited to see the red carpet adorned with glamorous gowns and jewelry.  And while this year definitely had some statement makers like Katy Perry, I must say that my favorite ensembles were worn by Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, and Selena Gomez.

Jennifer Lopez arrived on the red carpet wearing a stunning Zuhair Murad Couture gown from the 2011 fall collection.  The high neck gown features a modern one-sleeve design that is accentuated by detailed floral patterns and extravagant beadwork.  And as her dress was clearly doing all the work, she looked particularly elegant with her pulled back hair and modest earrings. Find Your Own Fashionable Style!

Find Your Own Fashionable Style!

I’ve never thought of myself as “fashionable.”  After years of flipping through my sister’s copies of Vogue and watching E! for an amount of time that is more than the acceptable amount, I assumed fashion and style were for people who were more sophisticated than I was – you know, fancy people.

When I was a young girl, I was more of a tomboy and my biggest concern (when it came to clothing) was whether or not it would allow me to tumble into summersaults or scissor-kick into the splits at any random moment.  When I went to high school, I was stuck wearing an awkwardly large uniform skirt and oversized sweaters that attempted to keep me warm during our Colorado winters.  And finally when I attended Ithaca College, I was surrounded by slackers, who were still rocking flannel pants to class, and bundled-up west-coasters, who couldn’t figure out how to brave the biting air of upstate New York.  It wasn’t until I moved to Los Angeles that I discovered the purpose of fashion and design – this was the town that helped me find my personal style. We Love Diane von Furstenberg!

Diane von Furstenberg is one of the most iconic designers of our time, as she has not only dressed thousands of celebrities for some of the most popular award shows and events, but she also created one of the most iconic professional dresses for women (that was featured on the cover of Newsweek in 1976).  And although she is most famously known for her wrap dress and evening-wear, she has a wide variety of professional looks that have influenced the acceptable choices for women in the workplace.

Diane von Furstenberg’s signature styles include a variety of different patterns including the mixing and matching of floral shapes, thick and thin stripes, and crisp jagged lines.  Whether you are rocking her fall line from 2001 or this year’s spring collection, you will no doubt be covered in bold and fearless geometrical markings.  Because of her extreme use of pattern and shape, most Diane von Furstenberg dresses lend to a more simple use of color. Bright Copper Kettles and Warm Woolen Mittens

While most of you are bundling up this winter season, a lot of you fashion-fabulous are looking for the latest trends when it comes to keeping those paws warm.  For many occasions a classic pair of black gloves can make a statement, but for those Saturday nights that require a dash of sass, this winter has several looks that you can choose from!

Opera Gloves

While most opera gloves are made of traditional material like lace and satin, this winter many designers have come out with extra long leather gloves, which are perfect for that rocker look.  If you can’t find the right fit at some of my favorite stores like Club Monaco and French Connection, try department stores like Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s where you’ll find a wider variety in both look and price. How to Fashionably Tie Your Scarf

How to Fashionably Tie Your Scarf

It’s cold outside, but before you grab that wool scarf that you’ve been wearing since the 90s, I’m going to introduce you to three modern scarves that are topping the fashion charts this winter.

The Muffler

The fashion-conscious have been sporting the Muffler for the past few years – it’s basically a modern take on the traditional bandana.  In order to make the most of this rockstar look, find a square shaped scarf, bandana, or even handkerchief and fold it in half at two corners so that it makes a triangle.  Then wrap the fabric around your neck so that the triangle tip hangs down – front and center.  You can tie the ends together at the back of your neck, or you can wrap them around your neck once, pull them back to the front, and tuck them under the center of your triangle.  Voi La!  You’ve got a casual but chic scarf that goes great with any pair of jeans and a simple top. Do you believe in instant beauty product results?

Monika Spruch for Naturalis USA

Do you believe in instant beauty product results?

Our guest blogger, Monika Spruch does!

My journey with Naturalis products started more than 16 years ago while participating in beauty pageants in Poland, when the company shared their products with contestants. My skin was extremely dry back then and lacking nutrients. When I tried Evening Primrose semi rich cream for the first time I was ‘sold’ on the product forever! My skin was smooth, elastic and silky to the touch and it has remained like that to this day.

I wondered what was so special about this product.  I then learned that primrose oil, obtained from the seeds, is “cold pressed” that it has the capacity to accumulate in the deeper layers of the skin preventing it from drying out.  That creates a powerful anti wrinkle cream and eliminates the shallow wrinkles and smoothes the skin. At that time I didn’t know anything about unsaturated fatty acids, GLA, or Omega 6 – I only knew that it is working! I have used this product every day since then and my face remains wrinkle free 16 years later! Read more
